Dom Flemons & The Traveling Wildfires is a Brand New Black String Band supergroup launched in 2025.
The Mission
The mission of the band is to present an exciting, high energy show with songs that reach into the heart of all the American roots genres from bluegrass, folk, country, gospel, blues to string band music.
Each show is carefully curated to include Dom’s greatest hits from his GRAMMY Nominated albums “Black Cowboys” and “Traveling Wildfire” along with more fan favorites. This supergroup is the next chapter in Flemons 20 year long career that began with the founding of The Carolina Chocolate Drops which led him to his successful solo career. It has always been Flemons dream to have his own band that would include a roster of musicians that alternate for each show because he wants to expand his music capabilities and collaborations. Dom Flemons has invited more special guests to join the roster so “The Traveling Wildfires” will be gaining new members that will be announced soon.
About
Dom Flemons
Dom Flemons “The American Songster” is a Founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the newest inductee in the American Banjo Hall of Fame, a GRAMMY Winner, and he’s considered an American roots icon.
"I created “The Traveling Wildfires” after the International Bluegrass Music Conference inducted Arnold Shultz into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame in 2025. I was inspired by the story of Arnold Shultz who was an African American musician that influenced Bill and Charlie Monroe and this is my way of continuing his legacy which still resonates within bluegrass. The structure of “The Traveling Wildfires” was inspired by Bill Monroe and The Bluegrass Boys which had a rotating cast of musicians throughout the decades. Plus, I wanted to make sure that the music reached beyond bluegrass and covered American roots music as a whole. It’s so exciting to bring this vision to life and I can’t wait for “The Traveling Wildfires” to take the music to the next level." - Dom Flemons "The American Songster"
"In 2025, it was my vision for Dom to create a supergroup band and to perform music from his entire career with a variety of musicians from all generations and backgrounds. I co-created and named this supergroup "The Traveling Wildfires" because the energy and vibe is so cool, fresh, and exciting. I can’t wait to see how this collective of artists honors Dom’s incredible career while blazing a path that is as unstoppable as it is new." -Vania Kinard, Artist Manager
